More flights to Greece in 2025 from the Irish market

The signals for further strengthening of inbound tourism from Ireland in 2025 are particularly encouraging, following the 7.3% increase in air arrivals of Irish tourists to Greece in the first 9 months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 (171,300 compared to 158,800).

This year, Aer Lingus and Ryanair will continue their direct flights from Dublin to Athens, Heraklion, Santorini, Corfu, Chania, Kos, Rhodes, Zakynthos, and Thessaloniki, with the latter adding Rhodes and Corfu to its routes for the first time from Cork Airport (from 4 June to 25 October), while maintaining its flights from Shannon Airport to Corfu. At the same time, TUI is adding a new flight from Cork to Rhodes, from 9 May to 19 September.

These figures were revealed during the International Tourism Exhibition Holiday World Show Dublin 2025, which took place in Dublin from 24 to 26 January, with the participation of the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

The GNTO stand, with co-exhibitors from the Regions of Crete and Central Macedonia, the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO), the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO), Grecotel Hotels & Resorts and Domes Resorts, recorded a high level of traffic from the Irish public, who were looking for information on various Greek destinations. The majority of the audience were repeat travelers, but a significant part of them were planning their first trip to our country.

fam/press trip to the Peloponnese in May 2025

During the exhibition, it was agreed to hold a group fam/press trip to the Peloponnese in May 2025, to promote lesser-known Greek destinations to the Irish market, while the Greek National Tourist Organization was also invited to take part in the “Meet the Media” event to be held in Dublin on February 10, with the participation of more than 130 representatives from local media, influencers and content creators.

The Greek pavilion was also visited by the new Ambassador of Greece to Ireland, George Stylianopoulos, and the Ambassador of Cyprus to Ireland, Louis Telemachou.

Holiday World Show Dublin 2025

Holiday World Show Dublin is organized by the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) and has established itself as the most important tourism exhibition for the Irish market.

This year’s event saw the participation of a total of 425 exhibitors, with a significant presence of destinations from all over the world (Spain, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta, Japan, South Africa, Cuba, Thailand, Peru, etc.), while it was visited by almost 30,000 people, including many tourism professionals and journalists from Irish media.

According to data from the organizers, approximately 60% of visitors wanted to receive information before deciding on their holiday destination for the current or next year, with 39% being exclusively interested in European destinations.
