FREENOW Greece | Excellent performance in 2024

FREENOW Greece recorded growth of almost 20% in 2024, compared to 2023. As it reports, last year 9 out of 10 passenger requests were served immediately, demonstrating its excellent ability to respond to user needs.

The total distance traveled in 2024 reached 82.5 million kilometers, equivalent to a trip from the Earth to the Moon 215 times, while the total driving time for FREENOW routes amounted to 190 million minutes.

The number of registered drivers on the platform exceeded 12,000, with FREENOW welcoming thousands of new drivers in 2024. Also noteworthy is the 10% increase in the available hours of professional taxi drivers, which highlights their growing trust in the platform.

Today, more than 1.8 million registered passengers use the application, making an average of one additional trip compared to 2023, according to the company's data. One of the most impressive moments of the year was the longest trip made, with a passenger traveling from Thessaloniki to Athens (494 kilometers), but also equally long trips from Athens to Igoumenitsa and Arta.

Three new fleets

In addition, the company was the first to satisfy a permanent request from its users by launching three new fleets at the beginning of the year. In addition to the classic taxi option, passengers can now call large trunk taxis when they have a lot of large luggage, priority taxis for faster service during peak hours and premium taxis when circumstances call for an upgraded experience. In this way, FREENOW modernized the taxi for another year, serving millions of passengers and significantly boosting the income of its driver partners.

December was the most successful month in FREENOW’s history, with a record number of active drivers and passengers that surpassed any previous one. Particularly impressive was the increase in scheduled appointments through the application, which increased by 40% compared to last December. Passengers chose FREENOW for their shopping trips and meetings with loved ones, demonstrating their trust in the application’s services.

For the third year, FREENOW has enabled its passengers to contribute by taking trips and paying via the app, with the ‘Social Contribution’ feature, helping people in need. The initiative has raised an impressive €1 million across Europe, including €90,000 from Greece, with contributions from more than 200,000 trips. It is noted that from December 1, 2024, and onwards, the company is enabling its passengers in Greece to round up the cost of their trip, donating the difference to the “Children’s Smile” Organization. In this way, passengers are actively contributing to meeting the Organization’s growing needs.

In 2024, FREENOW promoted accessibility in transport, contributing to the inclusion of its proposal in Action 20 of the national strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities. The action includes the replacement of taxis with subsidized accessible vehicles (van type) with wheelchair ramps, with the aim of completion by 2030 and an initial milestone in December 2025. A FREENOW survey showed that 9 out of 10 taxi drivers are willing to invest in such vehicles with a state subsidy. Through the “mobility-watch” campaign in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Greece & Cyprus, the company highlighted the issue and submitted an official proposal to the Ministry of Transport.

Beyond its growth, FREENOW continues to invest in Greek talent and its human resources. One of the company’s two central hubs operates in Athens, thus increasing the number of its employees in Greece and supporting the German-speaking, French-speaking, and English-speaking markets.
