AEGEAN 600 | International sailing race with entries from 19 countries

From July 6 to 12, 2025, the heart of global sailing will beat in the Aegean as the international offshore sailing race AEGEAN 600, which covers an impressive 605 nautical mile route from Sounio and around islands-symbols of the Greek summer, evolves into a top sporting and tourist event for the country.

Organized by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club (HORC), in collaboration with Olympic Marine, it brings to Greece top crews from all over the world, with participation from 19 countries and boats of all types.

The race, with a starting and finishing point at the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, crosses the Aegean Sea and passes through emblematic islands such as Milos, Amorgos, Kasos, Rhodes, Kalymnos, Patmos, Fournoi, Ikaria, and Mykonos. It is not just a nautical challenge, but a life experience that combines the competitive element with the unparalleled beauty and cultural identity of the Greek island region, according to the organizers.

Each island functions as a “living station” of the race, with the opportunity for local communities to actively participate, to showcase their history, gastronomy, and experiences, and to enhance their tourism visibility internationally.

The AEGEAN 600 as a global tourism institution

The success of the event is not limited to the racing component. It is characteristic that last year’s edition (2024) attracted 69 boats from 24 countries and highlighted the Aegean as an ideal field for thematic tourism, marine activities, and premium hospitality.

The choice of Olympic Marine in Lavrio as a technical and operational base offers high-level services, docking, infrastructure, and hospitality for dozens of crews and escorts. At the same time, tourist traffic in Attica and the Aegean islands is strengthened, in a period (July) of key importance for Greek tourism.

Everyone admits that the AEGEAN 600 is now recognized by international sailing associations such as the International Maxi Association and is among the top races in the world. The race's reputation functions as a national promotion tool, reinforcing the image of Greece as an authentic, safe, and attractive destination for quality, experiential tourism.
