Hilton invests in wellness technology in rooms

The pursuit of wellness is systematically recorded in travel trends in the post-pandemic era and is no longer a luxury service offered only by spas. Wellness is a comprehensive approach to lifestyle. Many hotels have begun to integrate various types of services that aim to upgrade the hospitality experience and contribute to the physical and mental relaxation of their guests.

In this context, Hilton, one of the largest hotel chains in the world, and Calm, a leading company in the field of mental health, announced an innovative collaboration, while also integrating technology.

Starting in March 2025, approximately 2,400 Hilton hotels equipped with Connected Room Experience technology will offer, without a subscription, Calm's wellness and sleep support tools. Guests will be able to enjoy content such as guided meditations, bedtime stories, relaxing soundscapes and mindfulness exercises, directly from their in-room TV.

Demand for wellness on the rise

This initiative comes at a time when the wellness market is experiencing rapid growth. According to the McKinsey Future of Wellness report published in November 2024, the global wellness market has reached annual revenues of $1.8 trillion, with the United States market growing by 10% annually, reaching $480 billion. Sleep, in particular, is emerging as a key pillar of wellness, with 82% of consumers in the United States considering it as the second most unmet need in the health and wellness sector.

Focus on sleep and mindfulness

The new partnership places a strong emphasis on sleep and mental well-being, aiming to meet the needs of travelers who want to find moments of relaxation, whether on business or vacation.

Our partnership with Calm is an important step in integrating wellness into the hospitality experience. We want our guests to leave feeling refreshed and energized,” said Amanda Al-Masri, Hilton’s vice president of wellness.

For Calm, Fergal Walker, vice president of partnerships, emphasized: “Travel is not just about the destination, it’s also about how you feel during your stay. Through this partnership, we are bringing calm and mindfulness closer to travelers, whatever their need—resting after a long journey, preparing for work or relaxing on vacation.”

Innovation in Hilton’s Connected Rooms

The partnership is based on the innovative Connected Room technology, which is already available in more than 2,400 Hilton hotels worldwide. Guests can personalize their stay experience by adjusting the temperature, and lighting and streaming their favorite content.

The integration of Calm into this technology is the latest in a series of Hilton innovations, such as Digital Key, Confirmed Connecting Rooms, and the award-winning Five Feet to Fitness™ program, that offer unique experiences for guests.

As the demand for wellness services continues to grow, this partnership demonstrates how modern technologies can provide solutions that address essential needs, such as mental health and well-being.
