The International Space Station (ISS) will be located above Greece this afternoon, protothema.gr reports.

Thus, weather permitting, it will be visible even to the naked eye from many parts of the country.

According to astroviewer.net, the International Space Station will be situated above Athens at 18:18 in the afternoon.

The ISS orbits the Earth at an altitude of nearly 250 miles and completes one orbit around the Earth once every 90 minutes at a speed of 17,500 miles per hour.

The Station is roughly the size of a football field and under certain conditions is visible even to the ordinary observer.

The sky should be dark, as the ISS reflects sunlight like the moon, but it is not as bright, so it will not be visible during the day.

In the sky, it looks like an airplane or a star, but it does not have flashing lights and it moves much faster. The ISS must be at least 40 degrees above the horizon to be visible to an observer on Earth.
