Factory Design’s Air Lair

Sleep deprived much? Factory Design’s Air Lair is a sleeping pod catered to premium travelers so they can sleep better in cocoon-esque seats with adjustable light, temperature and sound.

AirFi’s Wireless System 

The Netherlands-based company provides low-cost airlines that don’t have in-flight entertainment with a portable and lightweight wireless system containing pre-loaded content into passenger’s mobile devices. So that on smaller flights, AirFi’s system can be stored in a luggage compartment. And even on shorter flights, passengers not only can enjoy a range of movies and shows previously stored in the gadget, they can also use it to order products just as from an in-flight magazine.

Panasonic’s Waterfront

Earlier this year, Panasonic launched Waterfront at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) that features the technology which lets passengers use mobile handsets to control an aircraft’s build-in entertainment. When everything becomes wireless on the plane, it actually provides more cabin space.

KLM’s Facebook Messenger chat bot

Knowing how much time we all spend scrolling through feeds on our phones, many airlines are now using social media to notify passengers with the latest travel updates. For example, KLM is now using Facebook Messenger chat bot to send out boarding passes and flight info.

Transavia Airline’s virtual reality technology

The low-cost subsidiary of KLM/Air France is looking at VR as a way to provide premium service. Furthermore, Transavia sees VR as a way for passengers to hop over the fear of flying. Qantas has also begun giving out VR sets to first class passengers on selected flights.

LED in Boeing’s new “Airspace by Airbus” cabin

LED lighting in planes means that you’ll less likely experience the worst case of jet lag. Boeing  is introducing “Airspace by Airbus” cabin in its A330neo and A350 aircrafts, equipped with LED lighting. Zzzzz!

Avioninteriors’ cinema-style seats

The Italian manufacturer, Avioninteriors is looking into a type of cinema-style seat catered to economy class that will fold vertically when the seat isn’t being used, to give more space for movement.

Factory Design’s “Twisting Seat”

So much about the future of travel relates to personalization. London-based company Factory Design’s “twisting seat” is the idea of a flexible structure based on the anatomical analysis of a passenger’s back and how many positions it can rest while sitting down.
