The specificities of travel agencies in the spotlight for the Digital Vehicle Customer Register

An online information meeting on the Digital Vehicle Customer Register was held by the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Travel & Tourism Agencies (FedHATTA) and the Association of Greek Tourist and Travel Agencies (HATTA), with the participation of travel agencies from all over the country. The purpose of the meeting was to clarify practical issues and to record specificities that require interventions for the smooth implementation of the Digital Vehicle Customer Register.

Among the topics discussed were the automatic recording of customers and receipts, the full interconnection with the AADE platform, the weaknesses of the system, and the need for an extensive evaluation of the specificity of the tourism sector activity in combination with the existing obligations for vehicles.

The keynote speaker was the consultant for the Digitalization of Tax and Accounting Procedures, Mr. Antonis Dinos, who analyzed the method of implementing the Digital Customer Register and answered questions raised by the tour operators.

The Digital Customer Register came into mandatory force from July 1, 2025, and concerns travel agencies that have a fleet of vehicles, car rental companies (rent a car), rental cars with a driver, and related activities.

Particularly with regard to D.C. Tourist Buses, which fall under the KAD (49.39.31.02), which is included in the circular A1057/2025 on digital clientele, are awaiting clarifications on their inclusion or not in this regim,e as these companies carry out passenger transport, an activity that is not typical of vehicle rental.

The President of FedHATTA, Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis, stated after the end of the meeting: “We will be constantly vigilant for the implementation of the new procedures, so that the market operates legally and practically. We are closely monitoring the progress of the implementation of the Digital Clientele and are in constant contact with the competent authorities, in order to ensure the smooth adaptation of tourist businesses to the new requirements, without compromising their functionality and competitiveness, just as we did for myDATA.”
