FEDHATTA: Sectoral meetings with tourist agencies in Crete

The General Assembly of the Association of Tourist Bus Owners of Crete, a member of FedHATTA, which was held in Heraklion, was attended by the president of the Federation, Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis.

During the work of the General Assembly, he had the opportunity to be informed about key issues that concern the tourist agencies of the region, but also to inform about the new programs created for the operation of tourist agencies by the National Bank, as well as about the extroversion strategy of FedHATTA.

The members of the Association of Tourist Bus Owners of Crete emphasized the need for the State to keep its promises to reduce traffic fees as is the case for other relevant sectors, which pay 50% of the corresponding fees, but also to limit the interception of their transport work.

In an interview, Mr. Tsilidis stated: “It is unacceptable to claim our right to exercise our work as tourist buses and to accept attacks from other categories of buses - supposedly tourist, and this because they bear the title of D.X. whether they are KTEL or urban buses that do our work. They could happily do our work if we could do theirs, but this is prohibited for us. Two legal frameworks in one category is prohibited by the state. No one has the right to unilaterally support one category and discredit the other.”

Mr. Tsilidis also spoke about the framework of vehicle replacement every 27 years, a regulation that does not operate on merit and is based on annual operating time per region of Greece.

After the end of the General Assembly, at the Association’s cake cutting event, Mr. Tsilidis had the opportunity to speak with the Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, the former Director of the Heraklion Tourist Information Center, Mr. Aristides Stratakis, the former Mayor of Hersonissos and Vice President of the KEDE Tourism Committee, Mr. Ioannis Sengos, the Commander of the Heraklion Tourist Police, Mr. Evangelos Garganourakis, the Commander of the Heraklion Port Police as a representative of the Port Authority, Mr. Emmanuel Anyfantakis, the Representative of the Board of Directors of OLI Heraklion, Mrs. Eleni Tsantiraki, as well as the President of the Association, Mr. Stratos Magousakis, and its members.

During his visit to Rethymno, Mr. Tsilidis had a private meeting with the Honorary President of the Association of Tourist and Travel Agencies, Mr. Stratos Beretis, and Mr. Yannis Tripodianos, while he discussed with the President of the Rethymno Hoteliers Association, Mr. Manolis Tsakalakis.

Subsequently, Mr. Tsilidis visited Chania, where he met with the President of the Association of Tourist Agencies of Western Crete, Mr. Kyriakakis, and the members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Stavris Giannetakis, Periklis Chinopoulos and Manolis Vlastos, while he discussed infrastructure issues with the President of the Chania Municipal Council, Mr. Dimitris Virirakis.
