Revenue for Greek holidays rose 36 per cent but fell 41 per cent for Turkey
Tour operator Thomas Cook’s revenues rose 3 per cent as a result of a rise in demand for winter holidays in Greece and long-haul destinations, according to the Financial Times.
It said Greece was the “standout” destination for this summer and performed well during the winter. Revenue for Greek holidays rose 36 per cent but fell 41 per cent for Turkey, which has been roiled by political instability and terrorist attacks.
“As we look ahead to the key summer season, we are seeing strong customer demand across most of our markets. Greece continues to be the standout destination for Summer 17 while customers are also seeking out smaller European destinations like Cyprus and Bulgaria,” Chief executive Peter Fankhauser said.
