The mixed football team of Cesme – Alatsata is expected to be in Chios in June, in the context of a friendly match with the Mixed Team of Chios, sealing an initiative started by the Association of Furnished Rooms – Apartments and Tourist Furnished Residences of Chios. The hosting of the delegation from the neighboring country is a continuation of the visit that took place in March in Cesme, and is part of a broader strategy to strengthen cross-border dialogue through sports and the extroversion of the island.

The friendly match, in the category of young men, has as its main objective the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples through sports. At the same time, the visit of athletes, escorts, and fans from Turkey is expected to act as a lever for the tourist promotion of Chios, with positive benefits for the local economy and the international image of the island.

During their stay in Chios, the participants will have the opportunity to get to know the historical and cultural sights. The Municipality of Chios, through the Department of Development & Entrepreneurship, Shipping and Tourism, has planned organized tours to emblematic places such as Pyrgi, Mesta, and the Mastic Museum, offering visitors an authentic experience of local gastronomy, tradition, and natural beauty.

The action is part of the broader strategic planning of the Municipality of Chios to strengthen thematic and alternative tourism. In this context, in 2025, events will be supported or co-organized that promote team sports, the promotion of traditional paths, contact with the natural environment and marine activities, while the organization of two-day conferences with scientific and environmental organizations will continue, with the aim of promoting the natural and cultural heritage of the island.

The visit of the Turkish delegation is not just a sports stop, but a cultural event with a touristic footprint. Chios invests in hospitality, the exchange of cultures, and the formation of a modern tourist identity, based on cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and the joint promotion of the historical ties of the Aegean.
