Summer of sports in Trikala: Athletics, cycling, and new generations in action

A particularly dynamic sports program is planned to take place in Trikala, with actions related to athletics, cycling, and youth participation at school and club levels. From May until the end of June, sports events will bring athletes from all over Greece to Trikala, as part of initiatives that promote not only sports, but also education, ecology, and cultural participation.

Athletics Games “Trikala Athletics 2025”

The annual athletics meeting “Trikala Athletics 2025”, organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the University of Thessaly, is scheduled to take place on May 23 and 24. The games will be hosted in Trikala, in collaboration with EAS-SEGAS Thessaly, and are aimed at both students from the wider Trikala area and athletes from Greek sports clubs.

The event is part of the official calendar of the International Athletics Federation (World Athletics) and SEGAS and is accompanied by parallel cultural and sports activities. The aim of the initiative is to spread the love for track and field and sports among the new generation through participation and hands-on experience.

At the same time, the sports activities will give the athletes and their companions the opportunity to get to know the beauties of the area.

Panhellenic Road Cycling Championship Elite & Masters

The Panhellenic Road Cycling Championship Elite and Masters (Men’s – Women’s), organized by the Hellenic Cycling Federation within the framework of the “2025 Panhellenic Cycling Games”, is scheduled to take place from June 26 to 29 in the Trikala region. This is a top racing event in the Greek cycling calendar, as the country’s best athletes participate in it with the aim of qualifying for international events, such as the World Championships and the 2028 Olympic Games. At the same time, the event enhances the visibility of Thessaly, highlighting the natural beauty and sports infrastructure of the region through the selected routes.
