The process for upgrading the 3-5 Pigadia Ski Resort begins

The licensing procedures for the upgrade of the 3-5 Pigadia Ski Resort are underway, marking an important step towards the modernization of the infrastructure and the enhancement of visitor numbers. The process began with the submission of the Environmental Study for the Amendment of the Decision on the Approval of Environmental Terms (AEPO).

The investment, amounting to 10 million euros, is part of the “Upgrading of ski resorts” program of the Recovery and Resilience Fund and is being implemented by the beneficiary company OREINOS TOURISM S.A. It includes significant interventions that will improve both winter and summer activities at the ski resort. It should be noted that the relevant advances have already been channeled to the management body.

The main interventions

1. Replacement of artificial snowmaking equipment

The existing artificial snowmaking system will be replaced with a modern Snowmaking System, which will offer greater efficiency in creating artificial snow even at high temperatures.

2. New conveyor belt type lift

The upgrade includes the replacement of one of the two beginner lifts with a new conveyor belt serving disabled people, beginners, and children, with a full transparent canopy for protection from weather conditions.

3. Mountain Coaster

The installation of a mountain coaster system is planned, which will enhance the summer activities of the ski resort, providing visitors with a unique downhill experience.

4. Hotel upgrade

The 100-bed hotel operating within the ski resort will be upgraded from two to four stars. The maintenance and renovation works are expected to last approximately 12 months.

5. Electronic ticket management system

A modern electronic ticket management system will be developed, which will improve the entry and service process for visitors.

Goal: 12-month operating ski resort

The Municipality of Naoussa has set the goal of transforming the 3-5 Pigadia Ski Resort into a modern mountain resort with activities that extend throughout the year and beyond skiing. In this context, a study is underway to develop the mountain massif as a single tourist complex, which will include areas such as Arkochori, Agios Nikolaos, Giannakochori, Rodochori, Metamorfosi, and Agios Pavlos. At the same time, the rehabilitation of the 3-5 Pigadia – Metamorfosi – Agios Pavlos access road is also planned in order to improve the connection with the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism has included in its planning the enhanced promotion of the country's mountainous areas, within the framework of the strategy for expanding visitor numbers throughout the country and 12 months of the year, as stated by Minister Olga Kefalogianni, during her recent visit to the 3-5 Pigadia Ski Center.
