Front Runners in Sports Management 5.0 comes with world-class sports names on December 7-9, 2023

Kings, Bucks, Manchester City, FIBA, WWF, Loughborough University, Bergamo University will speak at the conference

The biggest sports management conference and one of the biggest in Europe, “Front Runners in Sports Management 5.0” returns for the 5th year, on Thursday, December 7, Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Deree – The American College of Greece. The conference is organized by the Sports Management Program and the Sports Management Student Society of Deree – The American College of Greece, with the Center of Excellence in Food, Tourism & Leisure, The American College of Greece, and the multi-award winner ActiveMedia Group. The first day of the conference will be hybrid and the next two will be online, with free attendance for all interested parties on all days.

Kings & Bucks Together for the First Time at the Conference

Front Runners in Sports Management is providing a unique opportunity for attendees to witness some of the most impactful presentations organized in Greece this year. This platform offers exclusive insights and experiences from skilled professionals, including those from the enchanting world of the NBA. Specifically, Ms. Matina Kolokotronis, the Chief Operating Officer of the NBA's Sacramento Kings will make one of her rare appearances at the conference, and her speech will have the subject: “Women in Leadership Roles in Professional Sports”. Ms. Kolokotronis is the only woman in the NBA holding the titles of both COO and President of Business Operations and is currently in her 22nd season with the leading team of the Sacramento Kings.

Additionally, Mr. Michael Belot, the Senior Vice President of Bucks Ventures and Development, will also speak at Front Runners. With five years of collaboration with the NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks and 18 years of experience in the sports industry, including work with the Ryder Cup and PGA of America, Mr. Belot brings a wealth of expertise to the conference.

Sustainability & Sports by The Sports Footprint

Front Runners in Sports Management 5.0 serves as a platform for promoting Sustainable Development in the field of sports. The conference focuses, among other things, on the social and environmental impact of sports events and the potential of sports to serve as a means for social welfare and confrontation of climate change. Participants will be able to attend presentations and panels featuring distinguished speakers from international sports organizations and universities. Confirmed speakers include Pete Bradshaw, Manchester City Director of Sustainability, Reham Bint Saif Alsaud, Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee Executive Director of PR and Events, Themistocles Karvountzis, FIBA Asia Head of Sustainability, Argyro Elisavet Manoli, Bergamo University Associate Professor of Marketing & Management, Michael Anagnostou, UEFA Delegate, former General Manager of Super League, Loughborough University (ranked as the world's No. 1), and Konstantinos Tsoukalas, WWF Hellas Project Manager. 

This section is held under the auspices of The Sports Footprint, the Sustainability Partner of the conference. The Sports Footprint is the only Greek-based company dedicated to promoting sustainability in sports events and organizations, making Sustainable Development a fundamental pillar of the sports community.

This year’s conference will feature insights from sports ambassadors of the MOTODYNAMICS Group, including the best Greek female race walker of all time, two-time European gold medalist, and bronze world champion, Antigoni Ntrismpioti, the best Greek pole vaulter & 4th Olympian in Tokyo, Emmanouil Karalis, the Olympic bronze medalist in sailing in Rio and 8th Olympian in Tokyo Pavlos Kagialis, and the Greek sailing champion Giannis Orfanos. These are just a few of the initial names announced, with more to follow.
