Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage has arrived in Cyprus to begin filming his new movie, greekcitytimes.com reports.

Cyprus Airport posted a photo of the actor’s arrival noting, “Larnaka airport is excited to have welcomed Academy Award Winning actor Nicholas Cage to Cyprus.”

The American star most famous for his films ‘Leaving Las Vegas’, ‘Con Air’, ‘Face Off’, ‘Wild at Heart’, ‘Moonstruck’ and ‘The Rock’, arrived at Larnaca airport on Friday afternoon to begin working on  the science fiction film ‘Jiu Jitsu’ which will be filmed entirely in Cyprus.

According to Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Cyprus) the film will be produced by Martin J. Barab and will be directed by Dimitri Logothetis.

Calculated to cost 24.6 million euro, it is a science fiction and martial arts film, with a cast that also includes Frank Grillo, Alain Moussi, Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos and JuJu Chan (known as the female Bruce Lee).

“This development is crucial for the growth of the Cypriot audiovisual sector and for the country’s entire economy, as it is a significant investment with multiple benefits that will promote Cyprus internationally,” Invest Cyprus noted.
