4.1% decrease in building activity across Greece in September

The Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, in September 2017 which is estimated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 1,081, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority. This figure corresponds to 214.1 thousand m2 of surface and 883.7 thousand m3 of volume, reflecting, respectively, a 3.0 pct decrease in the number of building permits, a 0.4 pct increase in surface and a 3.1 pct decrease in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2016.

The building permits for the Private Building Activity issued in Greece in September 2017 amounted to 1,070. This number corresponds to 202.9 thousand m2 of surface and 830.7 thousand m3 of volume. In comparison with the same month of 2016 there is a 2.9 pct decrease in the number of building permits, a 1.6 pct increase in surface and a 4.1 pct decrease in volume.

The building permits for the Public Building Activity issued in Greece in September 2017 amounted to 11. This figure corresponds to 11.2 thousand m2 of surface and 53.0 thousand m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for 6.0 pct of the total building volume during September 2017.

In the last twelve months, from October 2016 until September 2017, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 13,528. This data corresponds to 2,690.1 thousand m2 of surface and 11,724.1 thousand m3 of volume. In comparison with the corresponding period from October 2015 until September 2016, there is a 5.7 pct increase in the number of building permits, a 10.7 pct increase in surface and a 7.4% increase in volume.

In the same period, from October 2016 until September 2017, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded a 5.8 pct rise in the number of issued building permits, a 12.0 pct increase in surface and a 9.4 pct increase in volume, compared with the corresponding period from October 2015 to September 2016. During the same period, Public Building Activity accounted for 2.3 pct of the total building volume.

During the period January - September 2017, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece showed an 8.5 pct increase in the number of issued building permits, a 14.9 pct increase in surface and a 15.0 pct increase in volume, compared with the corresponding period of 2016.

During the same period, January - September 2017, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded an 8.6 pct rise in the number of issued building permits, a 16.8% increase in surface and a 16.7 pct increase in volume, in comparison with the corresponding period of January - September 2016.
