Pieria: “Olympus Riviera Ambassadors” Award to German Tourists

As a sign of gratitude to the repeat visitors of Pieria, the Pierian Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (P.O.T.A.P.) awarded the special honorary award “Olympus Riviera Ambassadors” this year, in the context of events held on Friday, May 9, and Holy Wednesday at the Pieria Regional Unit building.

The award, which was established in 2023, is awarded to foreign tourists who have repeatedly chosen Pieria as a tourist destination, strengthening the tourism development of the region over time. Through this initiative, the local community expresses its appreciation for the constant support of visitors, while strengthening the spirit of hospitality and the emotional connection of the friends of Pieria with the place.

This year, the German tourists Hoft Heinz Dieter and Hoft Heidemarie Elisabeth Konnie Keller from Essen, who have been visiting the Olympic Beach of Katerinis for the past 26 years, as well as Max Gruninger from Berlin, with 20 consecutive years of vacations in Neoi Pori, were honored. The awardees have deeply connected their travel experience with Pieria, combining their vacations with the exploration of the natural and cultural wealth of the region.

The Deputy Governor of Pieria, Ms. Sofia Mavridou, presenting the honors, warmly thanked the visitors for their long-standing preference, stating:

“We thank you for the practical preference that you have shown for twenty-seven years in Pieria of natural beauty, hospitable people, and high-quality tourist services offered. You are the best ambassadors of our country, not only in your country, but also more widely.”

For their part, the honored tourists expressed emotion and gratitude, stating that Pieria is now their second home and that everything they experience here they enthusiastically share with their loved ones in Germany.

The award ceremonies were also attended by the members of the Board of Directors of POTAP, Mr. Stelios Ouzas and Dimitris Topalidis, as well as the representative of the Pieria Chamber of Commerce in the Organization, Mr. Stratos Chalkidis.
