Wyndham: New Hotel Where the Vikings Once Sailed

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has inaugurated the renovated Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, Dolce by Wyndham, an iconic 16-story hotel overlooking the lush and historic Kildeparken.

Just a short distance from the vibrant city center, the hotel is ideally located to explore northern Denmark – from sparkling Christmas markets and pioneering architecture to sampling Scandinavian gastronomy at its best. It is no coincidence that Aalborg is ranked among the 20 happiest cities in the world. The city developed next to the Limfjord, the passage once sailed by Viking ships.

The hotel first opened in 1969 and became part of Comwell Hotels in 2014, serving for decades as a landmark for weddings, celebrations, and nightlife. Now, under the stylish Dolce by Wyndham brand, it begins a new chapter, joining its sister hotels in Aarhus, Copenhagen, and Odense, all known for their landmark locations, fine dining, and exceptional event spaces.

Mr. Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Eurasia & Africa) at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, stated:
“The Dolce brand continues to stand out in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, offering hotel owners a lifestyle brand that combines commercial appeal with the charm of authentic experiences. As demand grows for ‘coolcations’ and active getaways, the Nordic countries – especially Denmark – remain high on travelers’ lists. The Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg is one of the city’s most recognized hotels, and its transformation offers a fresh, authentic experience for culture and gastronomy travelers, as well as for conference professionals and creative groups.”

Danish Simplicity in the Heart of Aalborg

The Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, Dolce by Wyndham, is in a prime location combining peace and convenience, in one of Europe’s most walkable cities, with numerous cultural and historical attractions nearby.

With a “classic cool” design reimagined according to Danish design principles – simplicity, functionality, and elegance – all 198 rooms (suites, standard, and superior) have been refurbished with furniture and accessories from iconic Danish brand HAY. They now offer warm, welcoming spaces with natural materials, soft fabrics, and bright, airy layouts.

The four-star hotel also highlights the best of Danish gastronomy. Guests can dine at Restaurant Vesterbro, offering modern “green cuisine” and panoramic city views, or enjoy Bar V, a relaxed all-day space with a large terrace overlooking Kildeparken. Vesterbro serves a seasonal menu with local organic products, while Bar V offers light dishes, cocktails with handmade syrups, and creative recipes.

Ideal for both leisure and business, the hotel features 13 meeting rooms across 4 floors, accommodating up to 365 people. Spaces are adaptable to different needs, including the Panorama Floor on the 15th floor, with stunning views that provide a perfect backdrop for any event. Just 250 meters from Aalborg’s train station and 7 kilometers from the airport, the hotel ensures convenient access for visitors.

For those who want to start their day with exercise, the gym is located on the top floor with panoramic views of Aalborg.

Mr. Michael Hansen, Commercial Director of Comwell Hotels, noted:
“Aalborg is known as one of the happiest cities in the world, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our fully renovated hotel, in the heart of this vibrant city. This is our fourth collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, a partnership that offers global scale, support, and the distinctive Dolce brand, which perfectly responds to today’s demand for authentic, experience-driven travel. They are the ideal partner for Comwell as we continue to expand across Denmark.”
