Soft opening this year for Four Seasons Resort Mykonos

Four Seasons is preparing to make its debut in Mykonos this summer, with a gradual start of operations.
The new luxury hotel unit will initially open with 54 rooms, while the full capacity of the hotel will reach 96 rooms when construction work is completed. The implementation of this investment marks a new era for high-standard hospitality in Mykonos, but also for the strategic development of Four Seasons in Greece.

Four Seasons Resort Mykonos, an investment by Blue Iris Investments S.A, an investment vehicle of AGC Equity Partners, will include 192 beds and will operate as a “Mykonian village”. It will feature a 250-seat open-air theater, multiple event and conference venues, sports facilities and a wellness center, restaurants, shops, swimming pools and a helipad. The construction of the project has been undertaken by TERNA.

The team at the new luxury resort will be led by Ryan Grande, who has 14 years of experience at Four Seasons, having served at units in Jackson Hole, Vancouver, and Costa Rica.

The Mykonos Project, as reported by AGC, has been at the center of reactions from local bodies and environmental organizations. The Municipality of Mykonos and other parties involved have filed successive appeals to the Council of State, attempting to halt the development of the investment. The Supreme Court of Cassation finally gave the green light for the completion of the investment, but canceled the plans for the creation of a 32-berth marina.

The total investment now amounts to 78.6 million euros, compared to the initial 60 million euros, and extends over an area of ​​60,324 acres.

The strategic importance of the investment

For both AGC Equity Partners and Four Seasons, Mykonos is a strategic choice to strengthen its presence in Greek luxury tourism. The resort’s location in the southeastern part of Mykonos capitalizes on one of the few remaining pristine landscapes of the island.

The hotel’s architecture, designed by Stavros Valsamakis, draws inspiration from traditional Cycladic architecture, with small white houses and rooms offering unique sea views. The new hotel will enhance Mykonos’ high-end tourism profile, while the sustainable approach of the investment sets new standards in the development of the sector.

The success of Four Seasons Astir Palace

Four Seasons maintains a strong presence in Greece, with Four Seasons Astir Palace being one of the leading examples of successful investment in the tourism sector. Astir Palace received the highest distinction from the Michelin Guide, with the award of Three Michelin Keys.

Despite the change in ownership, Four Seasons’ presence at the hotel remains unchanged. AGC Equity Partners, the previous owner of Astir Palace, sold the resort to shipowner George Prokopiou, but Four Seasons continues to manage the property under a long-term contract.

Jann Kaiser, General Manager of Four Seasons Astir Palace, on the sidelines of the Three Michelin Keys award ceremony, stated that the partnership with the new ownership does not affect the hotel’s operations. The distinction from the Michelin Guide confirms the hotel’s ongoing commitment to quality and superior guest experience. “The dedication to quality and guest experience remains unchanged,” Kaiser emphasized, adding that Astir Palace recorded excellent occupancy rates last year. “If we can maintain or slightly increase these occupancy rates this year, we will be very pleased,” he added.

Four Seasons’ next project in Greece will be at Hinitsa Bay in Porto Heli, where Paul Coulson is redeveloping the former Hinitsa Bay. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Porto Heli will offer 80 rooms and suites, 30 bungalows and private villas. The project is currently in the permitting phase.
