GBR Consulting survey: New hotels across GreeceInvestments to meet increased demand due to the rise in foreign tourist arrivals

There is a host of new hotels emerging in Athens, Thessaloniki as well as the rest of Greece, according to a survey by GBR Consulting, which notes that a large number of hotels will be operational this year. These are investments that meet an increased demand due to the rise in foreign tourist arrivals.

GBR Consutling makes reference to the following hotel units:

In Athens:

The Yazbeck Group is renovating a property located at the corner of Académia and Omirou Streets to turn it into the 5 star Academia of Athens (pictured), Mariott's Autograph Collection.

The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Welfare has issued a call for expressions of interest in the lease of the former 176-room Esperia Hotel located on central Stadiou Street. The deadline for submitting interest expires on 11 May 2018.

The owners of the Athenaeum Grand Hotel, located on Sygrou Avenue, are planning to convert another property on Sygrou 123 to the 5 star Athenaeum Palace & Luxury Suites with 109 suites.

In Thessaloniki:

Some small boutique hotels have opened or will open this coming season. In a historic building in the picturesque Ladadika district, the 4 star Bahar Boutique Hotel will open with 16 rooms

The 5-star Antigon Urban Chic Hotel will open on June 1 with 38 rooms. Furthermore, the Doudou family is opening the 5-star Olympion City Hotel. The 8-storey property will have 27 rooms and will open in the spring of 2019.

In the center of Thessaloniki, 23 self-service apartments are being constructed in a 6-storey building dating from 1936, with a size of 25 to 55 m² each. The apartments will be sold through platforms like AirBnB, which have significantly increased their market share in recent years, but also through platforms such as booking.com, which is gaining a significant place in the short-stay apartments market in Thessaloniki.

Moreover, the 18 room Mood Luxury Rooms will open in Ano Ladadika in the coming weeks.

In the rest of Greece:

Within this month, the 55 rooms of Lango Design Hotel & Spa will open at Lambi Beach on Kos island under the management of HIP Hospitality.

On May 23, the former Capsis Hotel will be reopened as the 5 star resort Akti Imperial. The total investment budget reached 55 million euros for the 707 room property (78,000 euros per room).

The following 5 star hotels are also expected to open next month: Olea All Suite 105 rooms in Zakynthos and Rodostamo Hotel & Spa 77 rooms in Corfu. Also in Skiathos the Elive (ex Xenia) flats with 104 rooms and KB Ammos will open.
