Giraffe Manor is a small hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, where guests share the grounds with a herd of resident endangered Rothschild giraffes. The willowy animals freely stroll around the 140-acre forest and twelve acres of private ground getting intimate with guests. Some bold giraffes even stick their long necks in through the open windows at breakfast time in hope of a treat.

Offering views of the Al Hajjar Mountains and breathtaking stargazing opportunities, the Banyan Tree Al Wadi is breathtakingly beautiful. The Al Khaimah Tented Pool Villa is the grandest on offer at Banyan Tree's Al Wadi resort and has its own pool.
10. Natura Vive Skylodge, Peru
Fearless travellers have to scale a sheer rock face to reach the Natura Vive Skylodge in Peru's Sacred Valley. And have to take a zip wire if they want to get down from their floating hotel room. But the glass pods, in the heartland of the Inca Empire, certainly offer a unique getaway. At 400ft above the valley floor it's not one for people with a fear of heights.
11. Golden Lotus, Vietnam
The Golden Lotus Cruise offers relaxing cruises along beautiful Halong Bay, on board a well-crafted traditional junk boat built by local artisans. It features a bar, large sundeck and activities such as snorkelling, fishing and kayaking. Each air-conditioned cabin on Golden Lotus feature solid wood and rattan furnishings, as well as windows overlooking sweeping views of the bay.
