Trivago: Greek hotel prices lower than competition in 2015

Athens hotel prices increased by 14% in December compared to last year and reached an average of 82 euros, according to trivago.

In comparison to  the November 2015  price of 91 euros, they were was reduced by 10%.

Fluctuations in Athens hotel prices during the year compared to 2014 are shown in following diagram:

In other 50 major European cities, prices increased on an annual basis (+ 2.8%) but decreased with respect to the previous month (-3.3%).

In classic Christmas destinations chosen by Europeans, London hotel prices fell by 2% compared to the previous month but rose by 5% annually. Similarly, Paris records marginal volatility, with prices lowering by 1 percent compared to the previous month but risisng by the same percentage in relation to  the previous year.

Greek destinations hotel prices landscape is mainly characterized by decreases in both a monthly and an annual basis, but also by small hikes  but only if compared to the previous year. The average hotel price in Greece is configured for December at 86 euros, lower by 11% compared to November and higher by 12% compared to December 2014.

Low Greek hotel prices in 2015 compared with competitors

Generally speaking, all through the year which will end soon, hotel prices in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain and Turkey, remained highly competitive.

More specifically, Cyprus appears to be the most economical hotel prices during the whole year. Italy has the highest prices throughout the year, except during July and August, where Greek prices are much higher than all of these markets.
