Chamber of Chania | Paving the way for Cretan products to enter the US market

Paving the way for Crete to enter the demanding US market is being planned by the Chania Chamber of Commerce, leveraging its competitive advantages in Tourism, Agriculture, Energy, and Innovation.

In this context, a joint information and dialogue meeting was held a few days ago at the Chania Chamber of Commerce between the Board of Directors of the institutional body of Entrepreneurship and executives of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce (in the photo are the three participants in the meeting - their statements follow).

The President of the Crete Committee of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, MP Lefteris Avgenakis, emphasized that “the current presence in Chania of executives of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce and the constructive cooperation with the President and the Administration of the Chania Chamber of Commerce, substantially strengthens our multidimensional effort aimed at maximizing the potential of the valuable U.S. Market for Cretan products. The next stop is the Development Conference, which will be held on March 12-13 in Heraklion with the aim of strategically mapping the new economic environment in Greek-American relations.”

The President of the Chamber of Chania, Antonis Rokakis, during his speech at the joint meeting, stated the following: "Today, the most important "bet" is the quality Cretan products and our dynamic manufacturing enterprises to claim the position we deserve in the robust American Market in a planned and targeted manner. The Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce has significant know-how and strong networking to open new paths in the Chania Business.

The USA has been, in previous years, the 7th most important customer of Greek products, the 13th most important supplier, and the 16th most profitable trading partner for Greece, with the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries having "broken the barrier" of 3 billion euros. In the leading sector of Tourism, in recent years we have also enjoyed in Chania the dynamically rising tourist "stream" of Americans in the Greek Market. The travel budget of the average American exceeds €1000 per person per week, a 62% higher expenditure compared to visitors from other countries. "
