Booking.com | Get more bookings based on its 9 travel predictions for 2025

Based on responses from more than 27,000 travelers in 33 countries, Booking.com has identified 9 travel predictions for 2025. Now, it’s sharing its recommendations with its partner accommodations on how to make the most of these 9 predictions to drive more bookings.

“Make your property stand out by offering travelers what they’re looking for,” it says. Here are the recommendations for accommodations based on the 9 predictions:

1. Attract stargazers by offering celestial experiences

“Nocturism” or night tourism, means traveling to admire the night sky. 62% of respondents said they would consider visiting destinations with low light pollution for stargazing, with star bathing (72%), star spotting (59%), and unique cosmic events (59%) topping their list of stargazing experiences.

Tip: If your area has low light pollution, promote stargazing opportunities. Alternatively, you could offer flexible check-in and check-out times and 24-hour amenities to attract guests who are more active at night.

2. Promote accommodations that focus on long-term health

Wellness travel trends for 2025 aren’t so much about yoga and green juices as they are about accommodations that focus on longevity. 60% of respondents said they are interested in this type of travel and that they are planning getaways with experiences designed to enhance their health and vitality over time, rather than a short-term rejuvenation.

Tip: Make yourself more appealing to travelers looking for relaxation and wellness experiences by changing your property description or room information to include any spa amenities or wellness packages. You could also offer a healthy breakfast to attract wellness enthusiasts.

3. Attract travelers looking for more sustainable travel options

AI is Artificial Intelligence, but it could also be shorthand for “Alternative Itineraries,” according to our 2025 Travel Forecast research. Travelers will use powerful AI tools, like Booking.com’s AI Trip Planner, to create personalized itineraries that encourage deeper connections with local communities and promote more sustainable choices. 67% of respondents said they would use the technology to identify alternative destinations with less traffic, so they don’t put a strain on popular destinations.

Tip: Attract travelers looking for more sustainable travel options by leveraging our free online sustainability training developed in partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

4. Focus on families where all generations travel together, living shared experiences

In 2025, families will stop focusing on saving for the future and instead prefer to create shared memories that will last forever by traveling together. Prioritizing time spent together, grandparents are investing in shared travel experiences, valuing the bonds they develop and making the most of the time they spend with their loved ones. 46% of travelers would rather spend their money on their dream trip than leave a legacy, while older travelers are willing to pay for their children’s (80%) and grandchildren’s (78%) trips.

Tip: Make your property more appealing to families by offering kid-friendly rates. You can also update your property’s amenities to highlight any family-friendly features, like board games or play equipment.

5. Offer men-only vacations as they seek destinations that will boost their mental health

As awareness grows about men’s mental health, men-only accommodations that focus on wellness will become more popular according to our Travel Forecast 2025 survey. Almost half (47%) of travelers surveyed would encourage the men in their circle to take a men-only trip, with that number rising to 65% for Gen Z and 58% for millennials. Our research showed that “guy-only” vacations are no longer as popular, and interest is now focused on trips that are ideal opportunities for men to calm down and reflect.

Tip: Attract more male wellness enthusiasts by partnering with local spas or meditation centers, and highlight any amenities you offer by updating your property photos on your listing page.

6. Treat older travelers to action-packed adventures

In 2025, baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) will redefine what it means to travel as an adult. They’ll reject the idea of a quiet retirement in favor of action-packed adventures. 23% of this generation (up 10% from 2024) said they’re interested in adrenaline-pumping activities like skydiving, canoeing the world’s largest rivers, and hiking mountain ranges.

Tip: Target these adventure-seeking travelers by offering outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, and guided tours. Buy electric bikes to attract guests who want to explore your area.

7. Offer neurodiverse-friendly activities

Nearly half (49%) of neurodiverse travelers in our survey said they had a negative experience, while 50% believe their travel options are limited due to a lack of inclusion. As they process information differently, neurodiverse travelers in 2025 will use new tools to transform the way they experience the world. Technology that provides real-time travel updates and sensory-friendly environments will help them address these issues.

Tip: Highlight any features in your rooms that are suitable for people with disabilities, such as soundproofing and adjustable lighting or temperature controls.

8. The “Vintage Voyaging” trend: Support those who know what they’re buying

Next year, the holiday wardrobe will reflect a shift towards sustainability, as travellers increasingly shop second-hand on their travels. It’s not just about style. This shift is driven by both cost and climate change awareness. More than half (51%) of travellers are interested in buying their holiday clothes at their destination, with this figure rising to 63% among Gen Z. Thrift stores are becoming part of the travel experience, with 73% of travellers having already bought second-hand items abroad.

Tip: Appeal to vintage-minded travelers by suggesting local artisanal or antique stores.

9. Escape the Gateway — Improve Airport Time

The start of a trip could be as exciting as the final destination in 2025, as travelers change their approach to airport time. 60% of respondents said they would feel more excited about their trip if there were a wider range of amenities they could use before their flight. Among younger travelers, 43% are willing to try out airport experiences, such as sleep pods and spas, turning layovers into luxurious pre-trip experiences.

Tip: Engage travelers by increasing their time at the airport by offering airport shuttle service. From previous research on travel trends, we know that 24% of travelers worldwide would pay extra for this service.

Booking.com’s note to its partners concludes:

“Prepare for 2025 with our travel predictions

In the travel industry, 2025 marks the beginning of a more deliberate, conscious approach to discovering the world. Travelers are abandoning traditional experiences and seeking to create deeper connections on a personal, cultural, and environmental level.

Make the most of these new opportunities and increase your bookings by updating your property page to make it more attractive to travelers.”
