Conde Nast Traveller | Milos and Paros are the top Greek islands thanks to Instagram and Netflix

34 Greek islands were chosen for the 2025 holidays by the internationally renowned Conde Nast Traveller magazine. Milos and Paros are at the top.

As highlighted, Milos is "sweeping" on Instagram, which is "filled with unfiltered shots of the undulating white rocks at Sarakiniko, the green swimming hole at Papafraga and the colorful syrmata—tiny houses with boats wedged between rock and sea.

The best photo opportunities in Milos, as reported, will be found in Klima and Mandrakia." The magazine continues: "This picturesque landscape was shaped by the minerals that have long been a source of wealth—obsidian, alum, barite, and sulfur, which still gush from the island's many hot springs. As the 11,000-year-old mining industry gradually gives way to tourism, several chic hotels have sprung up."

On Paros, the magazine acknowledges that "While not as much of a secret as it once was, more recently thanks to its appearance on Netflix's One Day, Paros remains one of the quieter islands, frequented mostly by Greeks, island connoisseurs, and those seeking an authentic taste of Greek life." He adds that while the pace is decidedly slower than on nearby islands, there is a vibrancy in Naoussa, but "much of the island remains quieter, more rustic and - much cheaper - with villages scattered high and low across the landscape, spread out on paths and lined with outdoor restaurants, private residences and quaint boutiques selling local produce".

And he concludes: "In short, for travelers willing to part ways with the familiar streets of Santorini or the Mecca of the masses, Mykonos, the rewards are sweet, with a charming mix of cubist villages, large beaches and coves, wandering goats and old monasteries".
