Gastronomy, wellness, sports and cultural events under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization

Events that contribute to the international promotion of the regions where they take place (Lesvos, Mystras, Pieria and the Aegean islands), promote the diverse Greek tourist product and at the same time highlight thematic forms of tourism (gastronomy, wellness, cultural and sports tourism) that our country offers to its residents and visitors, begin in early July under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization.

These are the Lesvos Food Fest, the 1st Euphoria Retreat Wellbeing Festival, the 54th Olympus Festival, and the 5th international sailing event "AEGEAN 600".

From July 2 to 6, the 6th Lesvos Food Fest will take place in various locations on Lesvos (Skala Loutra, Lesvos Industrial Olive Oil Museum in Agia Paraskevi, Molyvos, Lesvos Petrified Forest Museum in Sigri, and Petra). The festival aims to offer a gastronomic journey through all seasons with favorite guests, customs, recipes, performances, music, new techniques and trends, games, guided tours, cooking, workshops, and tastings, which will highlight the sustainable approach to the gastronomy of Lesvos, which embraces the entire Aegean. The aim of the event is to invite the public and visitors to get to know the island at any time of the year, highlighting the special flavors and customs of the place.
From July 3 to 13, the 1st Euphoria Retreat Wellbeing Festival “Macrozoe: The Greek Path for Longevity” will take place in Mystras. During the festival, participants from Greece and abroad will have the opportunity to attend lectures and discussions on longevity and the prevailing perceptions on the subject, from ancient Greece and China to the present day. In addition, they will be informed about the latest developments in the science of longevity, will participate in discussions with experts, and will have the opportunity to learn about well-being, meditation and daily exercise practices (yoga, tai chi, pilates, etc.) from renowned yoga instructors and professionals of the genre. The aim of the event is to promote the important role of longevity, while examining how modern man can incorporate daily practices to improve the quality of life and increase his life expectancy.
The 54th Olympus Festival will begin on Saturday, July 5th. It is the leading cultural event of Pieria, with a pan-Hellenic reach and international visibility, implemented by the Olympus Festival Organization (ORFEO) with the main goal of enhancing the image of the region and promoting its diverse cultural heritage. The program includes theater and dance performances, concerts, art exhibitions, archaeological walks, speeches, tasting events, workshops, etc., which will take place in the city of Katerini, at the archaeological sites of Dion and Pydna, at the Castle of Platamonas, and other points in the wider region. The events will conclude on August 31st with Bulgaria as the honored country.
Finally, on Sunday, July 6, the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio will host the start of the 5th international sailing event “AEGEAN 600”, one of the top annual sailing events in the Greek seas, organized by the Panhellenic Offshore Sailing Club (POIATH). During the race, the 60 boats from 19 countries and three continents that will participate will sail 600 nm in the Aegean Sea, including the easternmost islands of Agathonisi and Farmakonisi, in a non-stop route. The race will conclude on July 12, again in Sounio, where the awards ceremony will take place. It is noted that the racing action will begin on July 4th with the warm-up race, which will offer the participating crews the opportunity to prepare appropriately for the special conditions of the Aegean.
