Conference in Pyrgos, Ilia | The digital transformation in tourism

The digital transformation in tourism is the title of the conference scheduled to take place today, January 29, at 18.30, at the conference center of the Regional Unit of Ilia in Pyrgos. In particular, the conference, which is organized by the Region of Western Greece, with the participation of the municipality of Pyrgos and the Chamber of Ilia, is aligned with the Region's action plan, which formulates the development vision and the guiding principles that should govern its operation.

The Region's strategic objectives include, among others, the digital transformation in tourism, which includes the use of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve the tourist experience and increase the efficiency of businesses in the tourism sector.

In this direction, the main axes of digital development in which the Region of Western Greece applies the current Regional Digital Policy concern the strengthening of tourist flows, with the benefit of the economic empowerment of local communities.

In this light, the Region participates in the above action, which promotes the emergence of a new identity of digital transformation in tourism. These actions aim to improve the tourist experience but also allow tourism businesses to become more competitive and efficient in the digital world, with the direct aim of the economic development of the place.

In the meantime, with the aim of comprehensively mapping and evaluating cultural activity throughout the Region of Western Greece, the digital platform Olympian Culture has begun its operation, which will record all cultural associations and organizations that carry out relevant activities in the three regional units.

The Olympian Culture platform constitutes the registry of cultural organizations in the Region and implements a modern system for their mapping, through which a new framework will be formed regarding their organization and the co-organization of events with the institution of the Region, with key features being increased visibility, access to resources and opportunities for networking and collaboration.

The new digital tool aims to provide a detailed picture of the cultural activity carried out by clubs, organizations, and associations, on the one hand, to form a comprehensive picture of the needs and advantages that need to be highlighted and on the other hand to outline a targeted and effective cultural policy, with an emphasis on sustainability and cooperation.

The ultimate goal is to create an interactive map and catalog with the overall picture of the cultural associations of the Western Greece Region, the highlighting and satisfaction of their real needs, and their digital transition and evolution, in accordance with national and European data.
