Seven events scheduled on Tuesday for 'All of Greece, One Culture' festivalContemporary art and culture in ancient monuments, archaeological sites and museums

Seven events are planned in various parts of Greece on Tuesday as part of the culture ministry's "All of Greece, One Culture" summer festival, which features contemporary art and culture in ancient monuments, archaeological sites and museums, ANA reports. There are four taking place in Attica and one in Thessaloniki, Ileia and Lakonia.

These include:


1. "Splendid Ruins - Greece through the eyes of foreign travellers (16th - 19th centuries)

The National Theatre will perform selected narrations of foreign travellers visiting Greece under Ottoman rule, pre-revolutionary Greece and the newly founded Greek state at the Kaisariani Monastery at 19:30. Places can be booked at:

2. National Opera Ballet dance solos - Three shows at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens at 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30 in the interior of the museum.

3. In the Peaks - The nine-member Athens Classical Players ensemble of the Athens State Orchestra performing chamber orchestra music by Mozart, Vivaldi and Shostakovich in the Archaeological Site of Elefsina at 20:30

4. Richard Long - "Athens Slate Line" - Sculpture by land artist Richard Long on display at the Shrine of Dionysius Eleuthereus along the Archaeological Walk on the South Slope of the Acropolis. Presented by the NEON organisation, curated by Elina Kountouri. The sculpture, whose linear shape acts as a footpath, will be on display from Tuesday, July 21 until September 30, between 8:00 and 20:00.

Admission is free of charge every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 19:00-19:45 with advance booking of places at:


1. "Constantine Cavafy - Dream by the State Theatre of Northern Greece" - a musical in a dreamscape based on the poetry of Constantine Cavafy, with music by Thodoros Economou. The performance will be held in the Roman Agora in Thessaloniki at 21:00.

1. "Our poets sing" - Poetry reading of verse by Greece's best-loved poets, with actors Manolis Mitsias and Karyofillia Karabeti in the dual roles of narrator and performer. Evening organised by the Athens Concert Hall at the Ancient Theatre of Ilida in Ileia, starting at 19:30.

1. Recital of musical works by Mikis Theodorakis, by Greece's National Opera. The event, marking 95 years since the birth of the composer, will be held in the Castle of Monemvasia at 20:30.

Admission for all events is free of charge, barring the ticket to enter the archaeological site or museum where this applies but those wishing to attend are obliged to book in advance. More information is available at the website:

Those attending events are required to abide by health ministry rules concerning safe distances (1.5 metres in the open air and two metres indoors), while the use of a non-medical mask is mandatory inside museums. To avoid delays and crowding, the public is advised to arrive roughly one or 1.5 hours before events are due to begin, wearing a mask during arrival and departure.
