9th Athens Open Air Film Festival returns from June to AugustThe festival kicks off on June 5 at the Roman Agora in central Athens, with Federico Fellini's "Amarcord" at 21:30 and ends of August 28 with the screening of Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" at 21:00 at Kolonos Theatre

The ninth edition of the Athens Open Air Film Festival returns this summer, with film screenings that will convert the Greek capital's neighbourhoods, parks, plazas, beaches, archaeological sites and landmarks into open air cinemas with free admission for the public. ANA reports.

The festival, which begins in June and ends in August, will be organised jointly by the Athens municipality's sports, culture and youth organisation (OPANDA), using many new locations. It will seek to recreate the magic of well-loved and classic films shown on the big screen they were made for, bringing some of the masterpieces of world cinema by directors such as Federico Fellini, David Lynch, Michelangelo Antonioni, Akira Kurosawa, Alfred Hitchcock, Mike Leigh, Jean-Pierre Melville, Luis Bunuel, Stephen Frears, Friedrich Murnau and many others.
