Travel Trade Athens 2016: Growing interest from Greek and foreign tourism enterprises

As the signature annual trade event for the City of Athens approaches, Travel Trade Athens 2016 has caught the attention of choice foreign and Greek tourism professionals and business executives. 

Now in its 4th year, Travel Trade Athens 2016 hosts select international buyers focused on Athens and Greece, making it the leading professional trade workshop for the City of Athens for the global tourism and conference market.

The 4th Travel Trade Athens 2016 will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of October at the luxury hotel «Grande Bretagne». The organizers are the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) via the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) in cooperation with the Federation of Tour Operators Europe (European Tour Operators Association-ETOA). Supporting this year’s organization is the Athens-based agency, Choose Ad. 

The 4th edition of the Travel Trade Athens will host more than 95 representatives of Tour Operators, travel agencies and business, conference and events organizers and prominent journalists in the conference tourism sector, mainly from Europe and North America, but also other areas. 

The participation of more than 60 selected hosted buyers and journalists has already been confirmed while over 90 vendors from the entire spectrum of the tourism market, have already registered. 

Particular emphasis is given this year on the Meeting, Incentive, Conference & Events (MICE) sector. In light of this, a special agreement has been made with the Conference & Travel Publications - CAT (Publishing: Meetings & Incentive Travel, Association Meetings International, the Worldwide Convention Venues Directory and meetpie.com), with a view to ensuring the participation of up to 20 leading MICE buyers. 

Travel Trade Athens aims at cultivating cooperation amongst international tourism services buyers and local tourism industry suppliers, facilitating in the forging of strong agreements and long-term relationships that help establish Athens as an all-year round destination. 

A specially designed FAM trip programme for the participant buyers is included in the TTA2016 experience, highlighting the wide range of options and services available in Athens, giving our visitors a chance to sample a comprehensive, authentic experience of this engaging city.

Travel Trade Athens 2016 includes:  

• A three-day hosted visit of buyers and parallel FAM trips and guided tours in order to present the city’s tourist product portfolio and the competitive advantages of metropolitan Athens as a tourist destination.

• Pre-scheduled business appointments conducted in rotation with a guaranteed minimum number set of appointments.

• Organization of a special information & educational session 

• Networking opportunities during parallel events

During the previous three workshops, between 2013 - 2015, more than 6,000 meetings in total took place between hosted buyers and businesses in metropolitan Athens and Greece, while a total of about 200 buyers from 30 countries participated.

The 4th Travel Trade Athens is organized under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism and endorsed by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, the Greek Tourism Confederation, the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation, the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies, the Federation of Travel & Tourist Agencies, the Pan-hellenic Federation of Tourism Enterprises, Athens, Attika and Argosaronic Hotel Association. «Diamond» Sponsors of this year's event is Aegean Airlines and Visa, «Platinum» Sponsors are the Athens Airport (AIA) and the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), and «Gold» Sponsor is the airline KLM-Air France.
