Trip Advisor: E-Tourism Frontiers DATA Mediterranean seminar in Rhodes

South Aegean Region approved a jointly organized by TripAdvisor and E-Tourism Frontiers DATA Mediterranean seminar to be held in Rhodes on February 16 and 17.

The Region also decided to participate in the Salon Mondial du Tourisme international tourism fair to be held in Paris from 17 to 20 March. The total cost for participation will reach the amount of 44,600 euros.

About the DATA project

The DATA project is an initiative by E-Tourism Frontiers and Trip Advisor to bring together Destination Managers at regional events to discuss the growing importance of user-generated content in travel planning. With more and more consumers relying on content from ‘fellow travellers’ to plan their trips, it is vital for destinations to understand how this can be incorporated into their marketing strategies. DATA events include training sessions, guided discussions, best practices, as well as analysis of the latest Big Data and trends from TripAdvisor.

The inaugural DATA event was held in Singapore on the 27th and 28th of November, 2014 in partnership with PATA with 24 regional Destination Managers from across Asia. The event was a great success, with two full days of interactive discussions, analysis of the latest regional big data and training sessions in strategic marketing. The delegates also had a chance to explore the host city on an interactive adventure tour using the TripAdvisor city guide apps.

In response to this,  more DATA events are now being planned in other regions across Asia, but also elsewhere around the world with African, Middle Eastern and European events being announced soon.

Sessions at these events are presented via interactive training sessions, destination case studies and multimedia. These include:

• Relationship Marketing
• Trip Advisor for Destinations

DATA IN YOUR DESTINATION

DATA is about much more than just destination management. It is also to assist destinations to create a genuinely engaged online community among the local travel trade they represent. We are now offering destinations an opportunity to host a DATA Seminar for their own private sector stakeholders and tourism trade in their own country.
