Networking of the municipality of Aristotle with the municipality of Valletta in Malta

Within the framework of the implementation of the program entitled "Green Mediterranean islands on the same geographical parallel", the municipality of Aristotle approved its networking with Malta and in particular the networking of the municipality of Valletta with Ammouliani, with axes of activity in culture, diving tourism, wine tours, and school exchanges.

According to the decision, this is an action that will strengthen the extroversion of the municipality, the reputation of the island of Ammouliani in the Mediterranean, and the general tourist activity, while it will upgrade the incoming tourist flows.

The networking is expected to take place on February 25 in Valletta, during the promotional event of the municipality of Aristotelis entitled “Eastern Halkidiki through a glass of wine”.

It is worth noting that Ammouliani is a small island in the bay of Mount Athos, opposite Tripiti. It is the only inhabited island in Halkidiki and is 120 kilometers from Thessaloniki. It was formerly a medio of the Monastery of Vatopedi, while after 1925 it became a place of settlement for Asia Minor refugees. Today it falls administratively under the municipality of Aristotelis and has 529 permanent residents, according to the 2011 census, who are engaged in fishing and tourism. A sight to see, apart from the old church of Agios Nikolaos, which was built in 1865, is the shipyard in the port, which is a typical example of Athonite architecture. The island is connected by ferry from the coast of Tripiti and the distance is only 2 nautical miles.

Furthermore, Ammouliani has many beaches, such as Alykes, Agios Georgios, Megali Ammos, Karagatsia, etc., while nearby are the Drenia islets, which can be reached by renting a boat.

On the other hand, Malta, with a permanent population of 550,000 inhabitants, channels the European tourist markets with repeat visitors 4 times a year, while it is the headquarters of hundreds of multinational and other companies, due to tax exemptions, so its population is increasing due to the moving and passing through executives of companies.

Furthermore, it has a per capita income of 38,000 euros and composes a profile of a high educational and social level of residents, and therefore travelers, due to the inextricable relationship of the state with Great Britain and Italy.

Also, Malta attracts a large mass of tourists from North Africa and especially from Tunisia and Morocco.

Since last year, local hotel units of the municipality of Aristotelis have been collaborating with Malta, adding another notable European tourist market to the region's "collection".
