Vamos! Flamenco Camp 2025 | Art and cultural workshop in Vamos, Apokoronas

For the fifth consecutive year, the village of Vamos in Apokoronas, Chania, is transformed into a vibrant art and cultural workshop, hosting Vamos! Flamenco Camp 2025 from July 15 to 20. A festival that unites the authenticity of Andalusia with the unparalleled Cretan hospitality.

With the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization, the Region of Crete, the Spanish Embassy, ​​the Cervantes Institute, the Municipality of Apokoronas, and the Vamos Cultural Association "O Prinos", the festival aspires this year to become a point of reference for flamenco lovers and beyond. "Flamenco is a way of life for me. In Vamos, I found a warm embrace, a place that embraces expression and spontaneity. The camp was born from the need to bring people together through art,” says flamenco singer and festival organizer Yota Baron.

This year’s event welcomes an exceptional group of artists from Spain, Greece, and the wider international scene:

• Gabriel Aragu – an acclaimed dancer from Seville, winner of the Madroño 2022, and creator of critically acclaimed performances.
• Federico Ordoñez – a talented Italian-Spanish dancer and choreographer, with appearances at major European festivals.
• Claudia Karapanou – a Greek dancer with a significant career in Seville and an active presence on international stages.
• Lucas Arango – a Colombian guitarist based in the Netherlands, who marries flamenco with contemporary musical forms.
• Yota Baron – the only Greek flamenco singer with an international career, the inspiration and soul of the festival.

Seminars, performances, and experiential cultural experiences

The festival includes workshops on dance, singing, guitar, rhythm, and the history of flamenco, giving participants the opportunity to delve into this unique art and experience it from within. Participants live the camp together with the artists and locals, participate in excursions, joint activities, and present their work on stage on the final night.

Flamenco and Cinema: New collaboration with the Chania Film Festival

Finally, this year, a new collaboration with the Chania Film Festival was also inaugurated, through the screening of the documentary "The Luthier" by Yannis Kostavaras. The film illuminates the life and work of Greek flamenco guitar maker Vasilis Lazaridis, highlighting the detail and soul behind every string and sound.
