Meteora stuns 1st Adventure Travel Trade Association Regional Conference

"Visit Meteora" undertook another important action for the international tourist promotion of the region in collaboration with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).

Last week, 300 delegates from 30 different countries - including all 12 Balkan countries - gathered at Lake Ohrid for the first inter-Balkan meeting on developing adventure tourism through the implementation of sustainable and responsible practices for tourism development in the Balkan peninsula.

Particular emphasis was given to networking among international buyers and media with private and public organizations throughout the Balkans. It was a weekend of open networking for businesses who are ready to invest in the development of adventure tourism in the wider region.

Visit Meteora prepared and implemented successfully, after months of methodical work, the presentation and viewing (destination showcase) of Meteora at this First Regional Conference of ATTA held in Ohrid from 9 to 13 May 2016.

Meteora and the surrounding area had a very significant presence and the company's sponsorship offered the opportunity for the best possible promotion of  the destination, both at the Conference and during a familiarization trip with selected tour operators and journalists to Meteora, that lasted 5 days, from 13 to 18 May.

During the familiarisation trip, representatives of travel agencies and media from France, America, Spain and Finland had the chance to experience firsthand the possibilities offered by the region of Meteora to developing alternative forms of tourism. According to what they said, the combination of the unique natural landscape of Meteora, the monastic state, the history, the culture, the massif of Pindus and the local gastronomy make up a recipe for success in the market.
