More than half a million tourists in Cyprus in July 2018Tourist arrivals increased by 1,6%

On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 539.626 in July 2018 compared to 531.030 in July 2017, recording an increase of 1,6%. July 2018 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.

For the period of January – July 2018 arrivals of tourists totaled 2.184.775 compared to 1.994.236 in the corresponding period of 2017, recording an increase of 9,6% and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first seven months of the year.

Tourist arrivals from Sweden increased by 15,0% in July 2018 compared to July 2017 while an increase of 15,9% was recorded for tourists from Lebanon. Contrary to that, a decrease of 1,1% in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom, 5,9% decrease from Russia, 22,2% decrease from Israel and 14,5% decrease from Germany were recorded. 

The United Kingdom constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for July 2018, with a proportion of 32,4% while arrivals from Russia comprise 22,5% of total arrivals, from Israel 6,1%  and from Sweden 4,8%                                                                                          

For a percentage of 87,7% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in July 2018 was holidays, for 9,8% visit to friends and relatives and for 2,5% business.
