’Open Cellar Doors’ event takes place at Wine Roads of Greece“Open Cellar Doors” is an initiative of the European network of wine cities

Wine lovers and visitors all around Greece will have the opportunity to gain a unique tasting and traveling experience by participating in “Open Cellar Doors” which is organized collectively by Greek Wine Producer Associations and their wineries’ members.

“Open Cellar Doors” is an initiative of the European network of wine cities, in which Greece participates. The aim of this initiative is to organize “events” focusing on the wine of every winery open to the public. The events will motivate customers to get acquainted with Greek wine and the winemakers.

On Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28 2017, from 11 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon, wine lovers will be given the opportunity to tour around the Wine Roads of Greece and participate in multiple activities which include tours, tasting, competitions with great prizes and other surprises. It is worth mentioning that admission to wineries on May 27-28 is free.

Plan your own “getaway” now and design your own wine route. No matter where you are in Greece, travel in the countryside and visit one or more wineries. Immerse yourselves into the magical world of wine, enjoy the vineyard setting, get to know the wine-making process and taste exceptional Branded Greek Wines.

“Open Cellar Doors” at Katogi Averoff Hotel & Winery, member of Aria Hotels

The Katogi Averoff Winery will be participating in the spring opening event on Saturday and Sunday May 27-28 from 10am to 7pm. During the event, tours will take place in the winery’s cellars where guests will have the opportunity to taste wines and get to know the history of the estate. In particular, on Sunday May 28, guests will be treated to live music from the Macondo band, while also enjoying a variety of delicious buffet meals. The taste testing is free for guests.

In addition, weekend visitors of Metsovo will be able to accompany their food with “Wine from House.” Dining in one of the three following restaurants: The Galaxy, The Fireplace, Grand Forest (restaurant), those who are interested will be able to bring their own Katogi Averoff wine from Katogi Averoff to the restaurant (with a corkage fee) and enjoy it or buy the Katogi Averoff wines from the restaurant.

For yet another year the Katogi Averoff actively supports the Ursa Trail and “The Tracks of the Bear” by offering the Pasta Party that takes place the night before the Games in collaboration with IEK Delta Ioannina and Professor Adamantio Dotsio. The Games are held for the fifth consecutive year in Metsovo on Sunday May 28, 2017.

The race tracks pass through the brown bear habitat through old paths that have been cleaned by volunteers and can now be used on the day of the race not only by athletes, but by everyone for walking or mountaineering.
